Meet Our Team at Legacy Design & Build

John Plummer

Visionary

Growing up on the East Coast, Bob Vila was my idol. To see how they transformed old houses into modern day show pieces was fascinating. In 1987, my family was transferred to Naperville. I’ve witnessed many changes in the town these past 35 years and have come to appreciate all that Naperville has to offer.

Over the spring of 1989, a childhood friend invited me to his parents’ home in Lake Geneva – what a place! I knew someday my family would have a home here but never imagined that we’ll be completing our fourth new adventure this year. This added exposure to amazing lake homes is a value to our customers. During this time, I developed a tremendous understanding of the construction process and used this knowledge to start my own home building firm. It was clear that my passion would be working with great families to build truly unique homes.

Over the years, I’ve grown in appreciation for quality workmanship. My team and I have the good fortune to build with some of the area’s best architects, designers, trades and landscape specialists.

Susie Swarm

Office Manager

Susie grew up in the Northern Chicago Suburbs and has lived with her family in Naperville, IL for 20+ years. After working as an educator for the past 12 years, Susie decided to pivot careers. Possessing a passion for homes and design, Susie is excited to work for Legacy Design & Build as the Office Manager. When not in the office, you’ll often find her running/walking in the neighborhood or enjoying a bite to eat in downtown Naperville, and as long as she has her 3 cups of coffee in the morning, it will be a good day!

Kelly Casson

Project Manager

Laura Ingalls Wilder once said “Home is the nicest word there is”, and I agree. My husband, our 2 boys, and I call Downers Grove our hometown. We live in a historically landmarked home where we can see downtown from our front porch. We love being able to walk to all the events, shops, & restaurants. My career background is in the insurance industry, and I have held an insurance license in the State of IL for 15+ years. I have worked with contractors my entire insurance career and I’ve seen the good, the bad, and the ugly. I am so happy to be a part of the Legacy Design & Build team, where I get to engage in the life-changing process of our clients’ renovations as well as watching clients’ new homes literally rise from the dirt.

An interesting tid-bit about me is that I actually come from a long line of home builders. My grandfather and his dad built up Chicago’s southwest suburbs, particularly Oak Lawn, in the 1930s and through the boomer years. The streets of Oak Lawn remain lined with the enduring brick homes that my grandfathers built for the 1st generation of suburbanites.
